Afternoon all,
What are the best attachments to get for a drill / angle grinder for taking paint off parts?
I have a pair of rear light housings and some other parts to strip.
Cheers
For small parts I prefer paint stripper followed by a clean with a drill mounted wire bruch. You can also buy attachments specifically for removing
paint. They look a bit like a sponge wheel and are used in a drill.
For really heavy duty paint and rust stripping used a bevelled wire brush on an angle grinder.
if your talking pannels, i like to use an orbital sanding disc, the garde i use is about 40, its harsh, but it alose scrathches lighly into the metal
which allowes for putt to stick really well... i figure that if your nly gonna primer putty and block the thing anyways, its better to have a good job
with the bog.

did this front guard with a scouring brush and stripping gel. the brush attaches to a pad that fits in my cordless drill. scruff up the surface of the paint with the scourer then apply the stripper. took off about 5 coats using this method multipule coats are required but the brush leaves a nice shiny panel for etch priming. scourer and pad available from aauto paint suppliers. make sure you pick up a work trestle as well best thing for holding panels while working on them.
small parts like light housing - paint stripper. Easy! Not many people realise that machines upset the surface of the metal, promoting future rust...
What about stripping paint from fibreglass as I want to strip paint from a buggy and paint stripper and wire brushes would be too drastic?
