I found this on my '75 kombi 1800 manual. I can't find anything similar on my 2L efi, and I can find no mention of it in either of my
workshop manuals. It has three wires which run to the engine analyser plug.
Does anybody know what it is?
Thats a sensor that pics up a pulse from the flywheel, to advise the EFI when to fire or squirt fuel from memory
That makes sense. :thumb
What doesn't make sense is that it is fitted to my twin-carb 1800 in a vehicle that looks like it has never had the brackets for the air intake
system for a efi motor. Even stranger is that I can't find one on my 2L efi (which doesn't mean that it isn't there, just too much
stuff in the way).
I guess the 1800 could be out of another car which was fitted with fuel injection....
Come to think of it, I'm certain that my 2L takes its pulse from the ignition points for timing the fuel injection....
You can cut all that ugly diagnostics plug/wiring out and throw it away.
Kol. Go get a brass T fiitting before you end up with a BBQ back there.
The plastic one works quite well for now. I've just replaced the hoses, with clamps on every join, so it won't be leaking in a hurry.
One change I do plan on making is to fit an electric fuel pump - I've just discovered how much of a bastard the stock one is to get out!! :o
