I have been having issues with weird tread wear on my rear tires. My old street tires, which spent 90% street 10% time on track had the wear pattern.
I got the wheels alinged (slight toe in, same -ve chamber on the rear) and then used my race tires (90% race, 10% commute to track) and had the same
wear pattern again
It happens under different presssures (from 25 to 45 psi)
any ideas?
below is a cross section of the tread and where pattern, the ridge is about 4mm.(outside is the left)

I dont know anything about this happening (Hides angle grinder, hehehe)
I had this on my FRONT tyres
stopped when i put my lowered struts with new inserts on.
How are your rear shockd???
:jesus
umm baout 3 yrs old, put them new when i got the car. kyb silver (gas?) mabye its time for some koni's.
Overheated on outside edge,
could say 4 sure with a photo.
Possible remedies include more neg camber and or a tighter sway bar or a harder tyre compound , have u checked your rear alighnment u should have
slight toe in about 1.5mm each side, if it is set on toe out , this may be part of the problem..
hope this helps..
many year's ago, when Alan Grice was running that ute in the 12hr race in bathurst. Goodyear had the same problem it, turns out that its a weight V's force thing and the tyre suffers. because the car was so light in the rear but still had all the forces put sideways on to the tyre. I can't tell you any more then that because i was working for a different motorsport tyre manufacturer at the time. (which is now the same)
it happened on the falken st115 on the street, then on the toyo fm9r on the track. It runs about -1.5mm toe and about -1.35 degree chamber. checked the day before it happended. run std torsion bars , but with a 24mm sway bar.
