Syncro Towing Limit.

Does anyone have an owners manual handy? I need to know how much my 1990 2.1 Caravelle Syncro can tow please.
Thanks in advance,
Andy.

I dont know what the manual would say.. but not too much. The front diffs and 5 speed gearboxes are a weak link. I most certainly wouldnt tow a car with a 5 speed.

I think for memory that the tow limit was 800kg; don't remember if any distinction was made for braked/unbraked. Will check the doco when I get home.

I have a Syncro brochure at home, which has a lovely picture of one towing a horse trailer. They ARE a bit lighter than car trailers I suppose. But I wouldn't try anything much heavier than that.

An full size neddie weighs 500kg. That only leaves 300kg for the float!! I'd bank on at least 1200kg for a double float and only 1 horse.
I would have gone into hock and bought a new diesel crewcab but that piss poor gear box can't tow its max weight (1800kg?) up an incline greater than 12% without breaking.

Errr..... thanks, I think. Who mentioned anything about towing a car! I wanted to know what size camper trailer I could tow.

Yes the tranny is a weak point, but it helps a lot if they are treated with a little respect, if you know what I mean!

By the way, the legal limit according to the owners hand book is 2000 kg. but even with carefull driving to care for the tranny, I wouldn't like to be hauling that much about for too long.
