Hey guys,
I'm in need of new tyres, and I understand there is limited choices in the standard beetle size. So, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a
brand/model of tyre?
My mechanic recommended Michelins for my 67 with std rims.He said it wold make a big differance to what i have now Goodyear Cushion G800 i think they are i dont know which decade they were made maybe 70s.
Michelin still make the 80 series tyres now all you have to do is find someone who has them the tyre model is one of these XAS,X TRA,ZX,XWX i got this from michelin UK.But there dimensions pages were not working so i dont know which model will fit good luck anyway.Mick.

Cool, I'll go to my nearest Michelin dealer, and see what they've got.
Antique Tyres in heidelberg have a vast selection! Try them!!!!
Cheers N!
See what your tyre shops have. For a stock Beetle, you need 165 / 15 sized tyres, in whatever aspect ratio you can find, perhaps 65 or 70 series. The speed rating is something you don't have to worry about!
I just went thru the rigmarol with my kombi..I have got 15s on and there was not too much selection, but then how many do you want. Hankook do 185/75
15 and thus I was happy...I went to the larger size (165 being the standard) to drop the revs in the splity...even going from worn 185/70 to new
185/75 made a difference..wow.
I got them for $100 each...I have learnt recently that there is some one in sth melb that sells 195/75 for about $85 (ask empi) for about $460ea you
could get whitewalls....
I think the 165s will be easy to find though...oh app you must be mindfull of your spedo readings when changing the diameter of ones tires...?
I'm pretty sure 195's wouldn't fit. And I think I'll go for the paint-on whitewalls.
165 80R15 is the largest tyre you can legally fit to the 5.5" rims. Hankook have a pretty good one and, if you live in the eastern states, K-mart carries a Kumho (which I had good experiences with, but they don't supply them to the West...)
165 80R 15 is maximum with a 4 inch std beetle rim i think.
