60's Beetle Seats - L to R
supercab - December 10th, 2004 at 07:35 PM

I have 2 good passenger seats for my '65 ragtop, and one crappy driver's seat. I am waiting for new seat covers, and have one of the passenger seats temporarily as a driver's seat. The adjustment cam is now, of course, against the centre tunnel, and stops the seat from going back quite far enough for me.

Just before I start pulling a good seat frame apart, has anyone ever converted a right hand Beetle seat to a left or vice versa? The adjustment cam and the corresponding part on the other side of the seat appear to have a hole with a pin, much like an early door handle. Does anyone know if these parts are interchangeable left to right?

Appreciation in advance for any replies.

once you can drive the pin out the rest is easy ,just swap over the parts and stick the pin back,, not a difficult job.

Thanks, this worked like a charm.

You only need to take off one side, then pull the whole rod out the other, re-insert as required, replace the part and the pin.
