Hey all,

My 1776 type 3 was running fine and now it's farting and cutting out when I give it a bit of throttle. I didn't make any changes to cause this - it just happened on it's own.
It seems to be starving for fuel. I have removed the inline filter and blown through it and it seems fine. It filled with fuel pretty quickly when I started the engine so the pump is pumping something! I don't really know how to test it without a pressure gauge.
So...would the problem be fuel or electrical? Does this sound like a dud pump or a dud coil or a fuel blockage or something else? Any pointers greatly appreciated!

Points gap is correct, valves are set at 6 thou (cold!) carbies are freshly rebuilt, fuel tank and lines should be clean, battery is fully charged, owner is pulling his hair out!

What sort of carbies ? The weber people will say blocked idle jet I guess, but it certainly doesnt sound like a fuel pump issue to me.

Running standard Type 3 Solex PDSIT dual carbs which have about 3 hours of running time on them!?

The engine will idle (roughly) for a short time without any throttle. Wouldn't the idle jet not be relevant since the prob is only under any kind of acceleration? I am no expert on carbs though...
