I have just fitted a dipstick temp sensor to reco motor. It runs at 110 c on the flat on a windy day doing 80ks.
What is not good? What temp is too hot and time to pull over????

it all depends
130 is shut down
100 is nice
70 is cold
You "should" be abouve 90 to get the impurities out of the oil. 110 is maybe a bit high for those conditions.
Wouldnt worry just yet. As i said , it is all relative. IF everything is fine them things can read hot if it is near metal for eg.
Best place is in the case or that plat in a Type 4. I would be more interested as to how it moves. Does it climb to 130 if cruising at 100k?? or only
say 105??
Does it "small" hot???
The engine is still in its run in phase. It was a very windy day. New seal in engine bay. Very flat road. It is a dip stick sender. Dont want to run
at 100k for a while to comply with rebuilders instructions.
