Does anyone know if it's possible to modify a standard 1500 type 1 pressure plate with the central ring around the transaxle main shaft to go into a
late 1300 transaxle with the new throw-out bearing????
Someone said it's possible and someone told me it won't work with the pressure plate i have.
Can i just punch out the central ring and it will then not hit the throw-out bearing guide?
Any help is great!!

Do you mean the pressure plate you have is early style? i.e. the one with the ring on the fingers? and late gearbox as the style with the throwout bearing that slides on a tube rather than going in an arc?
That's correct Castro. Wondering if i'm able to remove the ring to allow it not to hit the tube in the gearbox.
I understand there are 2 types of pressure plate with this ring in them. Mine is a 200mm with lots of 'fingers' going from the outside of the plate
to the ring. (Was told there is another type with a ring in the middle but with less 'fingers'??)
Just don't want to get the whole thing back together and find out it doesn't work!!!
Thanks again guys,please HELP!!
Accepts a 200mm clutch plate that is!!!
by the way, if i had to get a new pressure plate, would my clutch plate fit the newie?? Myclutch plate is brand new!!
Sounds like you have the early kombi plate, I have this because I have a late engine with an early tranny. The early kombi plate is 200mm (same as
late beetle) but suits early style throwout bearing.
I think you just have to change the pressure plate to a late style to work with the late style throwout
Thanks for that Jon, appreciated!!

Does this pic help.??
looks like an early style plate there
well, ive done it the other way ie, taken the ring out of my old pressure plate and put it into one that didnt have it before. both were the diapraam type that you have pictured. also done it with 3 fingered type plate which i just ordered a ring for so i reckon its good to go.
