Type 3 Guys - Info needed on heater system
Grey 57 - January 16th, 2005 at 02:09 PM

Would one of the Type 3 experts be able to tell me if the flexible hose that connects the heat exchangers to the ducting in the body are the same as Beetle ones?

I need to find a flexible hose with the 60mm sized end on both ends to connect up the heater/demister in my T3 Ghia. Though that maybe the standard Type 3 ones may work.

Any help appreciated. ;)

Thanks Steve, so the ends are different sizes then. Bugger I need both ends to be the same size.

Looks like I will have to make something up. To fit.

Deano, don't know about beetles, but my fastys both have steel hose of ~60mm diameter, both ends same diameter. You can use either strip wound metal hose or polylock hose, it's available in either stainless or galvanised steel. It's often used for truck exhausts, so it's pretty tough

You can buy this hose in a range of diameters by the meter from industrial hose suppliers like Purple Pig, Tyco, HIS. I can measure mine tonight for length, but the 34 might need different lengths. I'll try and post a photo so you know what to look for.

Hope that helps.

By the way, does he/she have a name?

Both ends are the same, infact the entire length of the tube is the same girth. Hope this helps, its very simple. :)

Thanks guys. I will check out Purple Pig to see what they have.
The joys of trying to match up 911 engine with T3 body. Angels are all wrong and lots of stuff in the way.
But I need to get the demisters working for the Vic Roads RWC to get it Vic registered.
