Hey all,

just having a mission trying to remove the right fender, and the fuel inlet/snout is getting in the way of removing some bolts. i cant seem to find any spot welds and I have removed any if not all the screws in that region...

is it possible to remove this at all ?

what sort of car is it?, if its a beetle you should be able to remove the fender with bolts outside of the trunk alone

yeah tis a bettle, just hard for me to get my hands down toward the bottom inside the trunk, as one of the bolts are slipping :/

ive just taken my guards off recently, had the same thing happen on one bolt. the bolts screw into a thread witch is welded to the body, one of these had rusted and was just spinning with the bolt, i tried as hard as i could to get something to hold the thread in place while my friend turned the bolt. no luck. i resigned myself to riping the loose threaded bit through the body( get that welded with a new thread later)with a vice grip

If the original owner had sprayed a bit of fish oil down around the front guards, there would be NO rust at all....Now...

In the US & Europe , most of these threaded bits need replacing due to the chemicals used on icy roads over there, which eats the metal around the threaded part.......
and they are available....

They are lucky if there is any body left when they take a guard off.....

I'm glad all Mine were OK....
