Evening all,
Im just after a product that will convert and seal in the rust I have found around my cars. Something that I can paint on and eventually paint over.
Just surface rust really nothing involving a hole.
Any pointers gratefully received!

from what the teachers at TAFE have told me:
rust converter is sort of a 2 edged sword. To convert rust it needs to be corrosive, and sometimes that can be a bad thing and go a bit too far.
oxidisation cant occur without oxygen, so if you seal it completely from the atmosphere it will stop it in its tracks.
personally, rust converter, then use fish oil. then paint ove it
Where you can get at the rust, clean it back to bare metal (bright bare metal), etch prime it, primer filler and then top coat.
Where you cant get access to it - such as inside the heater channels and what not, use the rust coverter, fishoil method.
In the UK they spray a wax product inside sills and double skins for rust protection - anyone got any experience with that ?
Can you paint over fish oil ?
Doug I have used the wax product in the U.K wax oil.
it is not bad but stays a bit soft and is a bitch as it gets everywhere. There is also a product called body shultz, this is supposed to stop rust
getting at the parts but when it hardens it cracks and allows water underneath.
For the best rust protection, have it blasted and then paint it with POR15.

i use a lot of ranex rustbuster, can also be used to polish out rust spots on chrome, can be used as flux if you feel like it..
i was reading about a product called master coat (dont know if it is available in aus) stops moisture and oxygen, if any body knows where to get this
,i would be verry interested:thumb
killrust rust eater and fishoil.
if you can ,get into it with a heavy wire brush then cold gal it , white knight make cold gal ,around $100 for 4 liters and be careful when you pick up; a can will give you a hernia , stops rust in its tracks
Rust bullet is meant to be the bomb - although not readily available in oz yet. Have contacted them and they say they're negotiating with potential distributers.
