seats
barls - February 24th, 2005 at 04:20 PM

hey everyone i had this up before but it was lost.
the question was what seats have you used in a bug that were not standard. i.e. what make and model were they out of and how hard were they to fit as i need a set for chaos as his standards have twists in them from the crash and id like something a little sportier than stock

baybuscamperkid - February 24th, 2005 at 04:37 PM

very early subaru buckets (late 70s) look period (look like rx3 buckets) and feel fantastic.

barls - February 24th, 2005 at 04:41 PM

really they arent too wide for the sbug are they. btw i also have a set of seats for sale if anyone is interested but no pics at this stage of them. i bought them but they were too wide to fit them

Yep, I have used Honda Civic seats in the past...

The last two set we (my Brother and I) have fitted have come from a Jap wreckers, just wandered in there with a tape measure and measured anything that we liked the look of....just make sure that they fold forward so that you can still access the back seat... We have no idea what they are out of!

R :)

thanks guys thats what ive started to do ive looked at suzuki gti, and early lancer so far.

Gracey - February 25th, 2005 at 12:28 PM

Honda Prelude seats in my bug. Tight fit and they are a bit heavy.

BiX - February 25th, 2005 at 01:32 PM

one thing to look at also is how the mnounting points are attached to the base of the seat. Most of the honda seats etc have varied height mounting points so you have to use packers etc. while the after market seats area ll the same level adn easy to attach.

one other thing to note was that to get blue plate in qld the seats must have a aust standard sticker on them WHEN be inspected........ or i was told when i got mine inspected the first time.

barls - February 25th, 2005 at 01:35 PM

already have the engineer organised mate as ill be getting both the seats and belts done this time as i still have the one from the t4 conversion

twoguns - February 25th, 2005 at 02:26 PM

i remeber taht diahatsu feroza seats were thin, and of a good support. maybe looka t some of those.

and i dont kow about your seats, yet.i havent gotten that far.

barls - February 25th, 2005 at 02:29 PM

its cool mate if you dont want them im sure i can sell them to someone else with something other then a bug

baybuscamperkid - February 25th, 2005 at 04:33 PM

definitely not too wide. look like a crossover between a race and a normal seat. this is a pic of one before re-upholstering.

barls - February 27th, 2005 at 01:16 PM

thanks mate ill let you all know what i end up with

battybat - February 28th, 2005 at 05:55 PM

honda prelude seats in my bug, bit of a tight fit getting to the handbrake, but nothing you can't live with, and they were inspected properly, with report, so must technically be fine. pretty comfy too

barls - March 1st, 2005 at 03:02 PM

got any pics of these seats mate and how are they mounted? bolted to the floor or on the original slides

barls - March 8th, 2005 at 04:31 PM

after spending some time looking the front runners for the seats are skyline, swift gti, lancer( maybe) and golf

bugeyedbabe - March 8th, 2005 at 05:14 PM

let us know what u come up with, as i am thinking of changing the supers later, once i get thru the body work, paint, motor etc :D

barls - March 8th, 2005 at 05:20 PM

have done excel seats but they were too hard and the wrong shape for me.

bugeyedbabe - March 8th, 2005 at 05:26 PM

found anything softer?? and what shape r u ??

barls - March 8th, 2005 at 05:30 PM

about 178cm and wide and solid. the skyline werent bad but i havent decided yet

bugeyedbabe - March 8th, 2005 at 05:53 PM

never even occurred to me to take into account difference.

what about t3. thought i saw someone tall mention this was a good fit for them. and little needed in change over

barls - March 8th, 2005 at 05:58 PM

you mean t3 transporter dont you.
no i want something sportier so when i drive im not having to hold on as much cause the seat will hold me

bugeyedbabe - March 8th, 2005 at 06:45 PM

didn't think so...

might be

will see if i can find thread.

71superbug - March 8th, 2005 at 07:53 PM

how about some MX5 seats or something? integra seats were nice last time i checked. who cares about the runners. have them in a fixed place. rip the back seats out and have them set up for you.

passengers can suffer :)

Anthony

bugeyedbabe - March 8th, 2005 at 07:54 PM
