Hi to all those sparkys out there.
I am clueless on auto electrics and need help to get the Triple cab started.
There is a starter button which does not seem to function and the wiring is all hanging there There are two terminals on the back of the rudimentary
starter button
A thick red wire is still attached to one terminal on the back of the starter button.
Another thick red with black stripe wire hangs loose and has a connector on the end of it.
Another not quite so thick plain red wire w/o connector is hanging loose and finally..
A green thin wire with connector also is there
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS
When I played with putting connectors on the free terminal on starter button nothing happened when button was pushed in. Found another switch on dash
and when that is pulled on the battery light symbol comes on on the speeds
When i touched the free not so thick red wire to the thick red one on the other starter terminal the engine cranks over.
When i touch the thick red wire on the starter button with the thin green one the engine cranks over. The red with black stripe wire does nothing on
any configuration.
I was under the impression that both red lights must come on in the speedo when the ignition is on ie the battery symbol light and the oil can light.
Which one is the ignition light? I'm assuming the battery symbol light.
how the other oil can symbol light comes on has me beat. Dio I have to get this one working too??
Thanks for the help to get this beast going..
The lights are actually irrelevant to starting the vehicle. The oil light comes on to indicate low oil pressure and the alternator light to indicate
low/no output from the alternator (or generator).
To start the vehicle you need to get power to the starter motor and to the coil. Sounds like you might just be getting power to the starter motor.
This site has wiring diagrams for most kombis:

sounds like your learning how to hotwire
