hi everybody,
I dont really know much about the mechanical side of my kombi but i just want to know if anybody knows what wrong with my 77 2lt kombi.. ok heres the
story:
i stopped to go shopping today and when i stopped she did abit of a jump while i was turning her off -but i had my foot on the clutch.. went
shopping.. then went to start her and she was making some funny noises and she wouldnt turn over... so i call dad!
Dad comes and jumps me and she starts pretty good!! ok all is good until i try put her in gear and it wont go in any of the gears.. so turn her off
and she goes in all of the gears fine!!
So try drive home and she changes gears once or twice before i have to stop-turn her off to put her in first gear!! and drive very slowly home in
first gear.. The gear box and clutch was re-placed at the end of 2003 by previous owners... like i said i know very minimal about mechanics so im
hoping its a simple problem!!!
hmmmm, maybe the cable just needs to be adjsuted... is there a strong foul smell coming at all from that area? stick your head under and have a smell...
does the kombi ever 'over-rev' when driving, especially hills?
Sounds like it may be the 'thrust' bearing, is there any pedal still!!
Andy
Yep, sounds like clutch problem to me also.
Can be many things though. Broken clutch cable, broken arm that operated clutch, thrust bearing etc.
Also the pedal end of the cable has a pin prone to wear and could be broken also.
As Andy said, any pedal feel?
Um pedal feels normal to me but dad reakons it felt abit loose maybe but i let her rest this arvo.. then dad started her up again and she went fine.. so i drove her to uni and was pretty much back to normal... she's a very moody kombi!!! i will see how she goes over the next few days and hopefully it was just a mood otherwise there will be a trip to the doctor!!
LOL, a kombi with mood swings, lol,
Andy
