Hi peoples,

A friend of mien is lowering their 61 beetle, With 2" adjustable front beam you will be able to run with teh shocks hey? The setup is...

2" Narrowed front beam (adjustable)
Dropped Spindles (for drums)
Narrowed tie rods
narrowed torsion leaves
They will be running BRM's 5.5 on front and back with 135's on front and 185's on rear

Can you see any issues relating to this going ahead? It will be lowered preeeettyy low..

Cheers , Tim

It really depends how low they go. If they slam right down then they will get the exact same rubbing problem as if they had left it stock and slammed it, cause of the offset of the wheels and spindles. If they want to go real low, prolly should go 4+ inch narrower, with custom shock towers.

N!

I can't see any clearance issues with the 2in narrowed beam (As this is about the max on a link pin without body mods). As unity said, how low he goes will determine how much problems he experiences with clearance.

Going narrower is not that much harder but have to be prepared either for body mods or custom shock towers which can be exy. I'd say 2in should be okay as long as it is not lowered right on its guts (which may be the aim of the whole exercise?).
