Running on 3 when cold?
chickenfillet - March 14th, 2005 at 07:51 PM

Hi Guys,

My '68 sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders when it first starts and for about a minute after, then after it warms up it seems to run fine.

It had new plugs, points, plugs etc about 2000 miles ago.

Any ideas?

Check or replace the dissy cap and rotor button.

Is it running too rich at idle?

When its hot it may cope with it, but when its cold it just fouls the plugs (one plug)? Over choked?

I don't actually know this is just a guess.

Also check the leads, 1 lead may be on its way out.

Thanks for the reply guys, found a small crack in the dizzy cap. Fix it on the weekend.

Thanks again,
