2buugu - March 18th, 2005 at 07:17 AM

hi all,
just a quick question,
ive recently purchased a yellow 1974 beetle and have started to do some mods on it.
i have bought rims an lowered it and installed a system
i was just wondering if you could instal a cannon exhaust onto an old style beetle and for how much?

plz leave any comments
cheers

Is this a Baja Bug ? Not sure a Cannon system will work on a standard Beetle.

no its not, its a stock beetle.
but ive seen a few beetles around where i live with them on it, they just stick out the side of the car behin the rear right tyre..
i was just wondering how much it would cost

where about do you live? im sire if you go down to the local performace exhaust shop they'd just make it 4 ya :)

i think it will be "around" $500-$800

loud and annoying your better off going with a merged header in to a fat boy exhaust

i think this is kinda a silly idea. leave the shiny cannons to the rice burners. get a tuck away or something.

i think

a)it will look stupid
b)it will sound like a barotone yelling into on of those plastic horns they sell u at sports events
c) it will have too little back pressure
d) every skyline and civic owner will give u shit

ahh the gong that explains it then ;)

ColumBUS - March 18th, 2005 at 05:32 PM

thats where its coming from!

serious, go for a tuck away system, or a monza 4 pipe kit.

seriously listen to us on this one the tuck away is the way to go

ok thanks,
could u post a pic of a beetle with a tuck away system so i can see what it looks like?

barls - March 18th, 2005 at 06:45 PM

ok here are some custom versions of a tuck away
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v353/barls80/DSC02352.jpg
and this is a modified kombi engine with upright conversion and its setup
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v353/barls80/DSC02289.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v353/barls80/DSC02288.jpg
both of these differ from the standard tuck away by having the muffler sitting almost upright to give better access to the tapets

not a prob im sorry i dont have one of the 2L in the car

LOWBUG - March 18th, 2005 at 07:39 PM

Don't put a monza system on it for gods sake, they sound stupid and rob you of power.

If its a stoker like it sounds like it is just go with a ell made extractor kit and maybe the fatboy.
