split bus wheels
jaksc - March 28th, 2005 at 06:56 PM

This might be a silly question but here goes. I've got a split window bus with lowered irs suspension . Having difficulty removing rear wheels when jacked up. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, so I undo the bottom shock bolt, this gives me enough to get the wheel clear.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what width are factory split wheels and what tyre size do they take? Assuming you have factory wheels.
Thanks
Brad

On very low busses you may have to use a small bottle jack above the spring plate to force it down to get the wheel off. How did you get the wheel on in the first place?

Cut a small relief in the spring plate to allow it to drop down a little more where it meets the stopper.
Notching 5mm at he stop may give you 30mm extra drop at the wheel.
Once the wheel is off...

When we bought the bus the wheels were already on. The tyre has gone flat but having trouble removing it.

I had the same problem with the split wheels so I used beetle wheels as they have a differant offset.
I can still only use 165 tyres.
I also like the beetle wheels as they are solid.
