hey guys
am looking into getting rid of the carby's and installing a spare EFI off another 2L type engine what info im after is that this kit is 30 odd years
old and me thinks the computer isnt the best so what are my options without spending thousands???? anyone have a 2L EFI engine and is happy with it
??? heard alot of slagging of the EFI gear but am sick of poor cold starts, poor economy etc time for fuel injection and this is somewhere to
start!
cheers

p.s. any advice welcome!
Yeah....ditch the carbs!!! Aftermarket ECU's come up on ebay every now and then for cheap. Just remember you have to get aftermarket ones dyno tuned to get it running at its best which costs $$$$. Try it with the old ECU first as getting another original one as a spare might be a cheaper option.:beer

talk to Steve C and/or Leigh Harris (turbo 59??)
Leigh's father in law?? owns that white/orange kombi bus at the Nats that is in schmicko condition.
They put after market injection in that and Steve tells ne it goes great guns
If it helps, I bought an older EMS T1-4 complete with loom, sensors relays, hand controller the whole nine yards for 500 bucks.
Some lower end Wolf and EMS systems are barely a grand new.
Worth checking out.

if you have a shitty flat spot that will not respond to carby fiddling then i would go to the dizzy vac can and check that it will give the same symptoms as a crook acc pump but not as severe
check that the accel. pumps are working, check vacuum advance works properly, check timing, check idle mixture is rich enough and that the butterfly
is closed to activate the idle/low throttle holes in the carb bore.
Are the throttle shafts worn? If you go efi you may just be opening another can of worms. Fix what you got 1st I reckon...
kkk
Man, originally the problem was only cold starts and economy!!!
Look what it's developed into!
hey guys
im using this engine as an example not saying this is the engine that this will go onto i generally want to know info and opinions on EFI setups
cheers

Give the EFI to me, and I will let you know how good it is
If your not up to speed on setting it up yourself, make sure you know of a good mechanic who knows VW FI setups well first.
A bit far from you, but I know people like German Auto's here in brissy keep a number of FI air cooled VW's on the road.
ok kool i will give it a go for sure as i think its the only way to go for my needs!!

I thought a flat spot was carbs once and it turned out to be a worn baseplate in the dizzy.
As for starting, I have NEVER had a prob starting the bus no matter how cold it is. In fact the colder the better.
All that said, I am ditching the 1800 and putting in a Suby 2.2
good idea peter when i get the $$$$$'s i will too air bags first though!!
