From various discussions with various people, I believe I have a blocked idle jet on one of my webers (36idf)
To take these out to clean is it just a matter of unscrewing the idle jets from the side, pulling out and cleaning.
From the diagram attached, just screw out the screws labled idle jet.
I know this seems like a stupid question, but I want to get it right, as I had heaps of dramas getting them running OK in the first place, and don't want to stuff it up cos I unscrewed the wrong thing.
Any simple way of telling which one (hard to here where the little splutters I hear are exactly coming from), or do I just take them all out and clean them all.
I guess that the carbs would have to be re-balanced then?

You Just unscrew the idle jets and clean them & screw them back in...
You don't need to do anything else as all You are doing is cleaning them...
If You unscrewed the idle adjustment or mixture screws, You would have to balance the carbs,
but all You are doing is cleaning the jets so they are back to normal....
the settings are fixed and cannot be changed by cleaning...

Make sure you find a good fitting screw driver... for the screw slots as the jets a brass and soft and tend to pull when undoing them.

the jets pull out from the main stack and again use a bit of rag on some pliers as there soft and squash easy

You have 36's

You wont find the idle jets on the sides like in the picture.

The 36's have them on the top. Depending on the linkage kit you have it "may" cover the jets.
I cut a nick in my base plates, like a 1/2" triangle. This way, you just pulled the filters off and the idles are readily accesable

these are not mine but i reckon they are 36's not 40's

you can see the jets on the tops beside the jet stacks

yeh I have some 36's not on an engine and they look just like that pic with the jets up the top.
