Twin Weber fuel line setups???
marty_08 - April 10th, 2005 at 07:40 PM

As some may remember i'm throwing a pair of 40IDF's on my buggy.

Got em on with a little problem solving along the way but......

The right (drivers) side doesn't seem to be firing too well. The questions i have are:

I've used the standard fuel pump on my 1600tp and ran a short line to the splitter (about a foot long) which splits closer to the left side (just left of the dizzy). This makes the line from the splitter to the left carby quite short and the line to the right one about twice as long. Will this affect the fuel supply to the right carby causing the lack of combustion??? Is this common practice to have varying fuel line lengths to twins????

When making up the fuel supply i went on the principle of fluids building and maintaining pressure in a system to be always equal if the system is a closed system, is this correct is this case????

ALSO i broke one if the hex-bar linkages, the one that runs from the extension arm off the hex-bar to the throttle on the carby (the bit with the swivels on it). Any ideas where to get another one?? hope they don't just come in the kits!!!??? :duh:duh

AND Where can i get a carby synchroniser??? Repco etc? And how much??? One guy told me about $100???

Any help would me great, really wanna take it for a burn around the block!!!!! ;)

Sorry for the long post with a thousand Q's!!!:kiss

Fuel line should be fine. Standard fuel pump should be fine as well.

For your bits call

CARBURETTOR SERVICE CO PTY LTD
240 Parramatta Rd Burwood 2134 (02) 9747 4066
Fax (02) 9747 4803
Internet http://www.carburettorservice.com.au

They have all the things you need.
The uni sync is a bit less than $100 - if i remember right. Get the one with the scale - not the bubble in a bottle one.

Why do you say the right hand side is not firing???

Balance then first and go again.

Thank for the info, much appreciated.

CSC were the guys i was thinking would have the parts, thanks for the confirmation. That's were i priced the syncroniser so i'll grab one from there when i'm getting the other parts.

Was worried the right side wasn't getting fuel. Didn't have time to check spark etc so will have to set the tappets, timing, check the plugs, tune carbies etc.

The problem with the buggy is that i can't see down the throat of the barrels to see the fuel spraying. Is there any other way of telling if fuel is passing in 40 IDFs????

Yes, one of those ones on the end of a handle like the dentists use. I've got one and don't know how I lived without it!

Mirror would help so i'll have to grab one.

Got the parts from CSC and hooked it up briefly, and checked leads and plugs and everything i could.... no change. Then i realised what was wrong and it's too embarassing to mention.
