jenz58 - April 15th, 2005 at 06:56 PM

Not loosing a lot but gotta get it fixed...

VolksFolks - April 15th, 2005 at 07:04 PM

Sounds like the rod tubes are leaking not you pistons Jen, anyway cip1 do the pistons and barrels

jenz58 - April 15th, 2005 at 07:10 PM

....they told me this might be the problem when I picked Bel up today...but they didn't have parts...

they say the oil is getting shot out from behind the pulley...it's not dripping....I clean it up under her hood...not dripping just spraying when she drives

jenz58 - April 15th, 2005 at 07:33 PM

Andy...Nathan just rang me...he thinks the same...blocked crankshaft tube...thingy

He gets it if tube not cleaned out every so often and gunk builds up in it...pressure builds up n oil spurts out....sounds exactly like what happening...messy though when it does..

She's not blowing smoke or spraying oil out of her exhaust and any of the worn piston stuff....

VolksFolks - April 15th, 2005 at 07:47 PM

Yeh Jen, sorry but i dont know where they think piston rings are buggerd, i feel Nathan maybe right, or it could be the crank seal behind the pully, or as happened to my mate it was a cracked case, we wont go there right now..

Good Luck

Andy

jenz58 - April 15th, 2005 at 07:56 PM

....no don't go the crack case on me lol

Nath is saying there's a tube near the air filler that probably needs cleaning...sounds too easy

blue ute - April 15th, 2005 at 08:39 PM

Hi, I have a set of German 36hp piston rings N.O.S

jenz58 - April 15th, 2005 at 09:30 PM

....thanks blue ute but I don't need them now from what I'm learning...but I'll keep you in mind if I do...

Robo - April 16th, 2005 at 08:24 AM

Hey Jenz
The vent tube they are talking about is the one on the oil filler. Its the one that goes down through the tin so it dumps on the road. There should be a plastic reed (tip) on the end of it. I took this plastic bit off so it is not restricted, if this is blocked it lets the pressure build up in the crank case and blows the oil past the crank seal, it gets on the pully and throws oil up onto the engine lid. I try not to drive Pige in the rain, so removing the plastic tip is not too much of a worry. moisture dosent get into the engine.

Jen AVWPC should be able to remove the oil filler / breather tube and soak it in kero or petrol to remove all the gunk thats blocking it....

Or take Bel to Michael he can take it off n clean it the same.... that will reduce the crankcase breatheing problems and possible reduce the pressure inside the case and not make it spurt out from behine the crank pully.

jenz58 - April 16th, 2005 at 10:11 AM

...I'll make a time to do it next week...but Nath said he'd have a look Sunday for me...thanks Dave

I was looking through my manuals last night to see how you take the tube out...but they don't sseem to say anything about regular maintanance on this...seems to be an oversight if these tubes need regular cleaning...couldn't even find reference to it in my idiots guide :jesus

Maybe it's such as easy task that they think every one knows about??

jenz58 - April 16th, 2005 at 11:32 AM

Bel's oil breather tube comes from the oil filler and goes straight down through her tin ware...if I unbolt the oil cleaner...is it then easy to get the tube out to clean?

My manuals are really sketchy on it

jenz58 - April 16th, 2005 at 11:55 AM

OK with Bel's type do I just remove the oil filler and soak the whole thing in kero??? Do I need to replace the gasket under it if I take it apart...they've just replaced it recently for me....It's just that it seems like it will be easy but just want to know now before I unscew it and get myself into trouble

jenz58 - April 16th, 2005 at 12:46 PM

OK got it off easy...ran kero down the breather tube and lots of silt came out....should fix it I hope...it didn't have a plug over the end it was open Rob

Robo - April 16th, 2005 at 02:13 PM

Sounds like ya solved the problen yourself. I think a glass of red is in order for that effort. Well done!
Rob...

jenz58 - April 16th, 2005 at 02:27 PM

Just bought lots more kero so I can soak the tube...didn't have enough before but running it through the tube got rid of sooooo much dirt .... yes a red after I've cleaned Bel up...

vw54 - April 16th, 2005 at 04:45 PM

yep give it a good poke...... with a bit of wire coat hanger up the tube to loosen the gunk... it might take several goes... and wash at same time.... just like doing the dishes... YUK.

BUGBOY - April 16th, 2005 at 05:31 PM
