Howdy,
Well i have been working away with my beetle for the last few weeks just slowly getting it back to working status, anyway just finished replacing the sparkplugs so i thought i would try and replace the contact set.problewm being the bosh one is the wrong one. now how do i reset the contact set gap to the right position and how do i knwo what that is? And with the vacume advance how do i test to see if that works A-OK? Also what is a better replacement for the 009? and how much are we talking? (i have a semi-auto 1968 beetle)
-M
P.S now i got oil all over my keyboard.

the 009 should work well unless your engine has a 34pict solex?

an SVDA is the best choice (single vacumm dual advance)

if you take the cap and rotor off your dissy and look inside u will see the moving and stationary points. there should be a flat head screw that you loosen and then slide a feeler guage in between the points. then tighten up the screw when the gap is right. it can be difficult to get it exact but if u hold it open with a finger while tightening the screw you should be right.

a 009 doesnt use vacumm advance so it should be blocked off on your carby if it is not already. the stock dissy would have a little round biscut thing on the side of the dissy for the vacumm advance.

i think u are looking at about 100 bucks for an svda or just find out what the stock bosch dissy is for a 68 semi auto and get one from a swap meet or something.

With the SVDA do i need to retime the car or anything when i install it?
How hard is it to install? And where do you reccomend i pic one of these up?
