Hello brothers and sisters.
I've been having a problem with my baja. I'ts been hard to start lately and once I'm on the road, there has been a very slight decrease
in power. But whats been happening the most is, it has just been dropping power to were it cant move the car. Rev count splutters around 0 - 500 rpm
with no response from the accelerator pedal as if its laking fuel. This happends at idle, underload and sometimes when just cruising to the point when
I'm just rolling. If I drive for 40mins, it will happen about 4 times towards the second half of the run.
I'll give you guys some clues. I have noticed these symptoms about a 2 days after I installed electronic points. I have a 2ltr engine with a
double throat weber carb. I have a electronic fuel pump. I had removed the fuel pressure reg (that little metal dial on the fuell line) since I
thought it may have been causing the problem. i don't know what else it may be.
Thanks,
Nick

Sounds like timing.
i would put the points back in and see if it goes away
Put in a MSD....?
Any other way of confirming that your not just lacking fuel?? Check how much fuel in the carb when it's lacking power??
I don't how hard this is on a weber
When you put in the electronic ignition did you get a non-resistor type rotor? The normal rotor has a resistor built into the arm and you don't
need this if using the points to trigger either a transistor assisted ignition or a CDI.
The resistor may have burned out from the high voltage pulses of a CDI and giving you a poor sparks when it warms up.
Tight valves will alos cause a lost of power.
Partly blocked fuel jets.
Poor fuel pump pressure (is that electric pump giving a nice squirt?
Sticking needle valve in the carby top.
Overheating engine?
