Currently i have a lowered front beam in my 69 beetle. I am looking into replacing the beam with the old one and dropped spindles. at the moment the
ride is quite rough especially with 19 inch wheels. I assume dropped spindes would make the ride bettter, is this correct??? And what do i have to
look out for when buying them.
cheers
u will ride like stock, feel no difference, but be 2 inches lower.
ur wheels will sit out an extra half inch i thnk and buy CB Performance ones as they r the best IMHO
do a search, this topic has been covered b4
Any pics of your 19in setup?? Sounds cool!
Dropped spindles will help to restore some of the normal suspension geometry but asuming you are running mega low profile tyres to fit the wheels in,
your ride will never be soft and comfortable. What sort of wheels/brake setup etc are you running? Narrowed beam?
CB spindles are quite reputable.
Thanks
The wheels are commodore fitment. So new front discs and the EB falcon converion on the rear drilled to suit. running a set of 225/35 profile -
Falkens. Still the standard beam with adjusters has not been narowed. I think that the wheels would rub on the inner guards.
I shall try to get some pictures posted.
is it possible to install only the drop spindles (leave everything else standard - wheels tyres beam guards) and have no rubbing?
Yes
i think you would be better to get a narrowed front beam with adjusters
as well as your dropped spindles as you increase your track with just
dropped spindles
you can also then sit the car exactly where you want not just 2 inches
terry
lams yes to the q you asked but your track will be 10mm wider on each side
of the car
thanks
I am going to fitting a new set of aero's so it sounds like i should be fitting them first. The wheels are 8 inches wide all round i dont think that
i could narrow the beam. not sure.
thankyou terry
I guess with drop spindles is like installing new springs on a modern car then? with no choice/adjustment on ride height once it's done
so it's possible to run a standard beam with 165 tyres with drop spindles? sorry i'm new!
