Can anyone tell me what the go is with puting electronic ignition on my 1600cc? I know there's a difference in distributors, being vaccum advanced or
not, so getting the right one is important. Is it a hard job to do? And can i get it from say, repco, supercheap atc, or is it a purchase through a vw
specialist? Should anything else be upgraded or replaced at the same time? Some quick responses would be appreciated, as i'm off to Townsville from
Brissy, so would like to not have to worry bout timing and points etc.......

compufire, accufire, pertronix all look to have been used and OK. cheapest of the name brands should be the go. vw specialist would be the answer as
they well small enough to post. repco ect will just look at you funny..
george at classic vw had accufire for 70 bucks or something ages ago.
at that sort of price you might as well put a new dizzy cap, rotor & coil on at same time and keep old set for spares...
im using a compufire E.I. and can recommend it.... its never missed a beat, I've driven through water about 3 feet deep and it kept charging
along.
I bought mine at Mick Motors in Brisbane northside, but cant say how much it was (got a heap of stuff).
Yeah shoot it over thanks roy, and prices too please.
thanks mate
