Fuel Line size !
Doug Sweetman - May 27th, 2005 at 12:42 PM

People,

One quick question, what is the standard size of the rubber fuel hose where it joins the steel line at the back of the tunnel, and runs through to the fuel pump ?

I cant remember if it is 3/16" (5mm) or 1/4" (6.5mm), and I need to replace it tonight, but I dont have the car at work to measure it.

Thanks in advance people,

Cheers,

Doug

quarter inch i used......VW's are metric but it fits snugly and just use hose clamps

Great - I called three VW shops too, they said 5mm, 5.5mm and 1/4" !!!!!!!

I'll see how snugly 1/4" fits... I'm replacing it because it leaks now, so I want it to be pretty snug.....

Thanks guys !

It's always good to find the right fuel line size without having to buy a selection. I'm going to partially hijack this thread because you found your answer.

What's the size of the fuel line after the T section in the t4 carb Kombis? it's the only section I haven't replaced and it's horribly perished. Danger! Danger!
The section from the fuel tank to the fuel pump was replaced on the spur of the moment when I was under the van. The hose came off the fuel tank nipple and I got drenched. had a full tank too!! I had to scream for help! Fun days.
