Piston rings
ancientbugger - June 3rd, 2005 at 05:46 PM

Bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, I feel such a pillock, just putting my type 4 engine back together and broke a bloody top ring!!! I've done the job countless times before so I was being a bit blase about it and now I need a new ring. I suppose I'm going to have to buy a complete kit just for the one ring (sounds a bit Tolkienesque) but does anyone know of another option, it's standard size 1800- not oversize,
Pleas help, the wife doesn't understand why I'm so depressed:mad:

Shit happens!

However check with Leon, Mick or Lawerence they will probably be able to help.

woohoo!!! a single ring!

I broke a couple of rings last time and couldn't find someone who sold just one or two. The old rings weren't even broken in properly, so I re-used them. Had to. Half the old rings were broken for some reason. Not sure I want to know. The motor had a lot of nasty little failures like that.

Hey guys,
I gave that bloke a call at Mick Cashell Engines and no problems "Yep we've got that size here, I'll post it tonight for you". Brilliant service and no having to buy a complete kit, I am well chuffed and AVD has come up trumps yet again. :kiss
