Type 3 seat belts
GTMac - June 3rd, 2005 at 09:43 PM

Has anyone fitted retractable seat belts to a Type 3. There is no room inside behind the door pillar like beetles to postion a retractable in its normal position and would have to be faced forwards. Just wondering if someone has done it and what brand or from what car did they come from?

Cheers.

I got my t3 with retractables already installed. It looks like some bracket has bee fitted as well to allow the unit to utilise the original bolt hole. but the space is limited. I'm not too sure what brand they are but some of the plastic covering has been removed to allow fitting. I don't know if this helps

Someone on the Type3 list ( http://www.vwtype3.org ) has fitted them. Let me find the url of what he did..... hold on...

Keep in mind that to be legal any modifications to seat belts need to be carried out by approved fitters, or at the very least be inspected.
