Squeaky Speedo
Purple Martin - June 4th, 2005 at 02:25 PM

My bug's speedo squeaks in cold weather! It's a rythmical squeak that gets faster as the car goes faster, and I can see the needle wobbling slightly in time with the squeak. What is the best way to fix the squeak?

Unscrew the cable from the back of the speedo and put some light oil like sewing machine oil down there.

Lubrication should help the cable to loosen up.

does it work when you give it a tap?

don't worry, it'll come back in a few days. mine did

Probably the cable broken, not the speedo...

Nope!

I'll have a proper look at it over the weekend (if I can find the time)
