Is a Pedal Assembly just a Pedal Assembly?

As per a previous post, I have broken a piece of my clutch pedal in my buggy. I believe I can either pull them out and attempt to get them welded, or I can try and buy another set of pedals somewhere.

But....not being sure of the year of the pedal setup in the buggy, the question is......are type 1 assemblies the same through the years, or different? How do I tell what type I have so I can start looking for a similar set?

When I pull them out (when I work out how to), do I have to replace the whole assembly, or can I just replace the clutch section?

Is it easy to disassemble the accelerator and brake section of the pedals?

There are different assemblies; Oval windows had one type; 60s beetles another, T3s.. late model Beetles... I have found the hard way that some had the clutch hook on the left side of the inside of the tunnel, some on the right... Take yours out and match it up with wreckers' sets

They are easy to disassemble. The best thing to do is probably to buy a whole assembly from a wrecker and pick and choose the best parts of each one to make up one good set. It's a good oportunity to give your pedal cluster a clean up and relube that it probably needs.

easy way of keeping the hook on the lever is zip tie it on, works a treat.
