the TDC mark on the cam should be clear , also the crank pulley has a TDC mark, the Auxillary pulley turns the distributer, take the cap off and face the roter to cyl # 1..

all good,
only the aux pulley has 2 marks on it about 3 teeth apart.
will it matter ? as I will be able to adj the dizzie anyway

Did u check it before u removed the belt ?

just face the the rotor to # 1, turn the crank 2 turns buy hand and check that all 3 points are alighned ..what model Seat ? engine pre fix ?

You may have to put the ecu in Basic settings to enable timing adjustments.

Check the flywheel markings as well . If all else fails put a screwdriver in no1 cylinder and mover engine until you find top dead centre roughly . The cam is clearly marked . The dizzy is the same as 009 and you shouldnt need to change it much from the markings on the dizzy . Best to set the dizzy drive gear with cambelt first before doing the timing . Basic settings is best in your case to disconnect the coolant temp sensor !
