Fuel tank outlet thread size needed?
helbus - June 13th, 2005 at 04:38 PM

Does anyone know the actual thread coming out of a 1975 Bus? I really do need to know the actual size and not a guess.

Are we talking on the nozzle sticking out of the fuel tank?
My '74 is sheer. No thread.

Anyway, if no-one knows, get a thread gauge. I think you can get them at automotive stores. I got mine with a cheap tap & die set I bought at the warehouse. Don't have much faith in that one though.

The barb that the hose goes on to would have a thread on the other end to go into the tank I assume?

Or is it just a brazed pipe outlet?

If I remember correctly it's a threaded brass fitting with a big brass locknut going into the tank.
The last time I looked at it, there was fuel pouring out on to me. Was sick for days after that, so my memory isn't 100% on the matter.
Gregory's was less than helpful. Just checked it

So what's up? broken or missing fitting?
