I've looked through my manuals and I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly so I don't blow fuses left right and center (which is literal
coz I only have 3 fuses in my oval!) On my generator, I have 2 main terminals - D+ and DF.
Is D+ substituted for terminal B+?
Is DF substituted for terminal 61?
Is the terminal in the background a makeshift ground? (redundant?)
How many amps rating should the B+ wire be? 20A+?
so, do I need to connect those two terminals (D+ and DF) to the regulator (B+ and 61 respectively) and run the wiring (that goes to the starter etc)
from the terminals off the regulator?
There's also a terminal labeled F on the left side of the regulator, my wiring diagram doesn't mention it.. leave it alone?
The low voltage wire coming from the dizzy - goes to the + terminal on the coil?
sorry for the blitzkreig of Q's.. hope someone can help me out - the oval's nearly on the road! I need to get it to the Herbie Drive-In cruise!
this is a regulator off a 6V gennie (that's not goin to be fitted to my bug) I still need to buy one if anyone has got one they wanna dish
off....:thumb

hey chris have you got the engine in now?
yeh! it's in and I've reattatched all the ancillaries... just need to get (probably custom) tail pipes fabricated and get a regulator..
whats the go with your clutch?
Terminal 61 to light in speedo
Terminal 51 to starter motor (which goes to battery)
A small wire from gennie goes to F (field) your DF
A thicker wire comes from the positive brush of gennie
(your D+)and goes to + on the regulator, see the screw
under the reg (next to your 61 in the pic)
This is connected to the 61 through a fusible link.
No! dizzie wire to neg on coil
I'm still confused...
here's a pic of the regulator I'll be using now. I presume that I'll connect DF on the regulator to DF on the generator. Likewise, D+ on the reg
will connect to D+ on the gennie, correct?
So in this case, does D+ go to the warning bulb in the speedo?
Will the battery/starter wire connect to B+ on the regulator?(the spade terminals are the wide ones)
Do I have an F terminal now? (and which terminal does that come from on the gennie?)
sorry for my lack of sparky knowledge!

Hey Grahame, the wisdom you bestow is most valuable! I am in debted to you.. cheers
Hey Old Dubber, just out of interest, why is the DF terminal on the gennie the wide one when it just leads to the warning light? I thought the wide
one would be handling the high current load ie: it should lead to the starter/battery (B+)
??
In your first pic, the D+ looks like the wide one to me!
Notice the slots either side!
sorry Old Dubber, I meant D+! The D+ is the wide one, and it goes to the warning light? Logically, shouldn't the DF go to the warning light?
dur! i feel so dumb!

I run another earth wire to the screw on the Generator/alternator to the body....
Make sure there is a braided cable connecting the chassis to the body next to the body....
This is the main earth for the starter motor.....
clean all the terminals so they are nice & shiney...
