What would be the best choice?

If I want to build a 2110cc engine to go into a ghia, would it be better to build up a beetle engine or start with a kombi case and get an upright conversion kit for it?

Have any of you done this before?

Was the type 4 engine heavier than the beetle engine? Like did you need to change the torsion spring settings to adjust the ride height or put stiffer shockies in or anything?

The type 4 is a bit heavier but I just put coilover shocks on and all was good.

ive got one in my bug and it really didnt make that much of a difference to the suspension. but the power is great

That's what I was thinking of. More power as we will be putting on dual carbies and air conditioning as well. I didn't want the air con to take all the power away so wanted a better engine.

So is it best to have the coil over shocks or just adjust the torsion bars?

i did nether mate just put a good set of shocks on it rather than play with it. im interested in how you put the aircon in cause i wouldnt mind some ether. go the t4 motor as its a little stonger in the case than the t1 and they come with duals carbs stock.

the t4 motor has oil filter from factory, splash plates in the sump.... and is allready a larger capacity to start with... id go the t4 and will be shortly

as ive already said in other posts ive got a stock t4 motor in bug and it will sit on 110km easily and not worry about hills
