hi ppl,
well i finally got around to getting a nice louvered W on my oval so i could get rid of the standoffs and be happy leaving the Beetle out in the rain etc..

now.. whats a good operating temp, around town and also on the highway..
obviously in summer differs to the winter etc..
but with standoffs it recently ran at a cool 63 odd degrees and now closed up runs from 65-70 on the highway to 82 round the town..
any ideas on what you guys's motors run comfortably at..
i just dont want to cook it or anything yeah..
i run a 1641, twin cads, mild cam, 009 etc
any feedback would be great
cheers paul

It depends where you are measuring.

To me thoses temps are COLD.

My VW sticker on my kombi says 70 is MINIMUM.

in "MY" opinion is
90 great.
105 normal
120 getting hot.
130 shut down

I found measuring in the rear pressure valve gave good measurement.
I also had tapped the case beside the oil plate and that ran 10-15 degrees cooler
