Havig problems with the clutch. In forth gear under acceleration the buggy sounds as tho it was revving out but the acceleration did'nt equal the revs.:cry
You want the good news or the bad
Good - you have a buggy and it is easier to take the motor out
Bad - you need to do a cluthch change.
Sounds like the plate is worn and is slipping. Probally out of adjustment as well and that is why you cant select gear.
Should have about 20mm free play before take up. ie you should be able to press the peddle with your finger (not while you are driving though!) and
there should be 20mm free travel before it cant be pressed without effort.
offroaders also suffer a unique problem with the gearbox oil getting on the clutch plate. After playing on serious hills you will find that if your
input shaft seal isn't perfect, you can get oil running out of your gearbox, down the input shaft, and onto the clutch plate. This will make the
clutch slip. You know if it is oil thats the problem because it slowly goes away and doesn't come back until your on steep hills again.
Buy a new clutch plate and input shaft seal. They are both relatively cheap.
Also consider putting a kombi clutch in instead of a beetle one. They are stronger and if mine is any indication just about indestructible. :bounce
I am NOT gentle on my clutch and while i have broker theh fork, cables etc i have never had a problem with plate or pressure plate since i started
using the kombi one
:vader
WHICH Kombi clutch - 210mm or 215mm?
And which throwout bearing does it use - the flat ear type or the round ear type (which needs a metal ring in the middle of the clutch
"fingers".)
In other words - you have to match any changes with the other components.
I run a 230mm 2lt kombi clutch, a mazda KLZE flywheel and pressure plate, an 1800 kombi ring gear, a 2lt starter, and a 2lt throw-out bearing. But
I'm just a little bit different :puke
also wont go into reverse when idling without crunching the gear.
Seemed to be better after i adjusted the clutch cable. Was able to go into reverse but the problem came back after a short drive???
