hey
what are the merc rims that fit kombi's??
and how do u measurer the PCD of things???
The PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) is the diameter of a circle drawn through the centre of all of the studs. On vehicles with even stud numbers, just
measure from the centre of one stud, to the centre of the opposite stud. I still haven't worked out a simple say to measure odd-numbered stud
patterns though, but measuring the radius (from the middle of a stud to the centre of the wheel) may be somewhat easier, then double it.
From memory, late kombi's are 112 mm, 4-stud beetles are 130mm and I don't have a clue what wide-5's are.
I'd happily tell you what Merc wheels I'm using, but the offset isn't ideal, so you'd want different ones to what I've got
anyway.
hi the ones your looking for should be ,ET37,stamped on them meaning 37 mm offset ,if you want to go low you can put ,ET49,on the front to give a bit more room against the gards but on the front only .ET37 have to go on the rear,i am looking for some at the moment.?
There's quite an easy way to work out the PCD of a five-stud wheel.
Measure the distance between the centres of any two adjoining studs (say the bottom two), then multiply that by 1.7013 to get the PCD.
The reason is that you can contruct a right-angle triangle between two of the studs, with the angle at the centre equal to half of 360/5, or 36
degrees. From the old trigonometry, sin 36 = y/x where y is half the stud separation and x is the stud to centre distance (the hypotenuse). Double the
size of the triangle and you have the total stud separation and the PCD as y and x. So to get x, multiply the stud separation y by the inverse of sin
36, which is 1.7013.
Hope someone can confirm my old high-school trig maths - its a bit rusty!

Check out Audi rims as well as they are also 112 PCD and have the same centre bore diameter so don't need a bore reducer, If you use merc rims
without centre bore reducers the load is taken on the studs.
There are plenty of wheels around that are not designed to place the load on the hub and therefore place the load on the studs. While I agree that a
wheel designed to place the load on the studs is better, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, especially on a kombi with 14mm studs.
The Mercedes (aftermarket) wheels that I looked at recently only accepted 12mm studs, which may be a problem if you are not confident about redrilling
them, but any half-decent machine shop should be able to do this for you.
Ps. My Merc rims are et55's, which do fit, but won't accept wider than a 205 (maybe a 215) tyre - I have maybe 6-8 mm clearance between the
tyre and the trailing arm. Plenty of room on the outside though.
i wouldnmt wont to go wider then 195's on the back and 185's on the front so i dont scrap but i think i need 16's so i can get about a
50 profile on it!!!

I got rims for HELBUS 16x7. Umm if I remember rightly they are 205/55/16
They were to suit Merc, and the stud holes had to be drilled out to suit the bigger VW studs.
It was quite easy I just went to Canterbury rd tyres and I chose the style and they fitted them! I paid for them. Then I drove away
yer i can make up adaptors easy as (my teacher at school can make em in no time he tells me) so hopefully i can find some cheap 16's!!!
cheers

Argh!!! Why are you still talking about using adapters Rhys? There are wheels around that have the correct PCD and don't need to use an adapter......
i thogutht they only came in 15's???

Can anyone confirm if BMW 5 stud is the same as Kombi stud pattern?
I have a set of 4 X 17" BMW X5 Alloy wheels with Brand new tyres For Sale $1000
Will get Pics if they are of interest to anyone?
rhys, i believe BMW 5 stud pattern to be the same as commodore. not even close to bay kombi pattern. falcon is closer, but still needs to be modified
to suit. i have just bought a brand new set of alloy 5 spoke 15x7 wheels. i waited 8 weeks for them to be made... but they fit with no mods &
included the 14mm metric nuts needed for the kombi.

Sorry Darryl, BMW definately don't fit kombi's. I'm using ford mags on mine. the ford PCD in 114mm, and kombi PCD is 112, i had my
wheels offset drilled 1mm to fit.

Rhys, don't use adaptors, they are illegal.
Rhys, try looking for some aftermarket Merc alloys, but make sure that the offset is correct for your purpose.
what offset should i be looking for???
cheers

Easiest way to work that out is to measure what's on it already, and work out how much more room you have to play with. I've got a great article here somewhere, I'll dig it out for you.
thanks col

Rhys, does it make sense now?
yer- thanks col

Hi
The stock Kombi wheel is 14 x 5.5 with an ET of 39, you should be able to work out what will fit by seeing how much clearance you have with a stock
wheel.

yer have been checking out a few wheels just from the wrecker non good so far

how did you go with the rims. we still have 5 for sale. going cheap. cheers, fish
Guys...I ran 16x7 of a MERC with 205x55/16 on the front & 225x50/16 on the rear. The ET from memory was 47 and they are a perfect fit! No rubbing, tram tracking or weird wear patterns. Note that the Lug nut "cup/taper" on MERC rims is different (made for 12mm studs) than on the Bus (14mm)....They don't seat properly...I haven't had any problems but the cops/insurance guys might if they every found out!
thought ild bump this to the top again cheers, fish
hey
i bought mags off my dad so ill pass thanks anyway fish!
