Noisy Clutch
Dozza - September 6th, 2005 at 11:02 AM

Just put an engine back together.....

Had the clutch off - all looked fine....

Now, she is driving well but with a noisy clutch operation when fully pressed down.... what have I done wrong??

I am expecting to have to take the engine out, but would mind some head start advice if anyone has any!!

Its a sort of slipping grindy noise, not real bad. Changes gear fine

All advice appriciated

Thanks

I think you will find its the thrust race.

as Dave said with the thrust race bearing.

it sort of "sits" in the forks. It may have been knocked a tad and is not sitting right.
It only presses against the plate whan the pedal is engaged.

Either that or some of the "fingers" on the pressure plate are stuffed.

Contamination can also get into the thrust race and make a bit of a mess of things too. Can make things noisy.
