im having quite a few electrical problems, can somebody show me a 1303 L beetle wiring diagram or something of the likes? looks like im going to have to re do most of it, any help would be appreciated.
All the wiring diagrams are available on The Samba website, just click on the thumbnails for the year you want. Here is the address for the page with
the Beetle wiring diagrams:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt1.php
or here at vintage bus
http://66.34.72.138/wiring/index.html
they have broken the pictures up a bit more. Easier to copy and print..
I also have some manuals at home if you want then copied and emailed
thanks a bunch bizarre that would be great.
my car just seems to cut out completely at times, and only with a nudge of the electricals is it restarted. i have plenty of battery power as the
headlights, indicators, and starter motor still work, but everything else just comes to a grinding halt.
any ideas as to what is wrong where?
If you are nudging the key i an guessing it is the key switch
It is at the bottom of the barrel
If it is the fuse box you are nudgeing it will be a bad connector on the control circuit
Whatever - i will copy the manual tomorrow.
Can u u2u me an email address??
See ya
thanks a lot for the help, ive isolated the problem to around the ignition barrel.
my whole car does need rewiring, its becoming a hazard, i'm told that i can buy a whole beetle wiring kit from somewhere, does anyone know if this is
true, its whereabouts and cost?

lol good luck. I was trying to check the wiring in my super the other day. I know that 90% of it was factory style wire (Traces, thickness, type and ends) The only problem is that a large part of my wires are a different colour than what is in the diagrams. I even ended up with two wires that I am not even ment to have (Yes standard factory wires) The car wont run if they are not hooked up to the fuse box. I also remember reading on SAMBA that you can't get the entire wiring loom for a super. It may pay to talk to them over there.
hi there Kroozin_Kikko ,if you have wiring problems you need to ring paul at rivo auto electrical 02 9627 1874
he knows his vws well,,just ask {vw54} dave, paul done work on his orange bug....
this way you get the job done right first time.
cheers ......:thumb
Kroozin_Kikko change your distrubitor. I had the same problem in my notch and it took me months to figure it out. Broken fibre shim in the dissy, small bounce of the shalf at the wrong time was all it took to short the ignition and kill the motor.
yep ,Daniel Paul at rivo auto is good for your dub , he did my starter motor for me:thumb
