Removing fresh air box thingy...

Hi again all

There was a BIG downpour today in Hobart and the car decided to remind me that it leaks...

I've already found out that its caused by blocked drain tubes from the fresh air box under the dash.. my question is this,
How do i pull it out to clean it out??

First start with a good warm up and some stretches, you need to be a contortionist to do this. It will help to remove the front seats before you start. Lie on the floor and look up under the dash. It is usually a tangled mess under there. There are four bolts securing the fresh air box to the under side of the dash, one in each corner. I think they require a 10mm socket to undo. You will need a long extension on your ratchet to reach. First disconnect the ducts which connect to the side of the box. Next disconnect the fan motor wiring. This cannot be done at the motor, so you will need to follow it all to the other end. Now disconnect the two rubber hoses which feed out the front at the bottom. These are the ones which will be blocked. Once all these have been disconnected, undo the four mounting bolts and the air box should drop down. Inevitably the rubber seal at the top will hold it in poisition, so giveit a wiggle and a pull. Depending on what mods have been done under the dash for stereos etc you may find that some other wiring needs to be moved.

Once you have the air box out, I would suggest you open it up and give it a good clean inside. Also check the cavity under the vents to make sure it is clear.
