The most expensive and crappest lock I have heard of...
SOHC - October 11th, 2005 at 05:29 PM

I m currently owning a 95' GL Golf...only got that 2mths ago, after a wk i got the car, only the driver's door work as i lock and unlock the car, so i had to lock and unlock doors individually. Now the most exciting things come, I went to the gas station to pump it up, then, the fuel door interlock ain't working, brought it to K-Mart, took it off for me, reap 90bucks off me for 5mins job(however i bloody didn't know how to do it...) anyway, they found out my vacuum pump motor was burnt. After one wk i got my car back, no bloody door can be open, only the hatch, so I had to climb through the windows. K-mart was real reaping off money, so i brought it down to Preston at my friend's place, he got a VDO pump, which I have no choice. My friend said the pump ain't working coz the vacuum hoses are leaking, therefore pump keep pumping nothing for 24hrs n its finished. The pump cost me 420 bucks!! so afterwards my friend helped me to pull off my trims, as the vacuum hoses are too old, they don't seal, n its bloody expensive, so put some super glue on it, works for more than a month, today... the vacuum hoses are leaking again, so... i recon i have to fix my car with hell lot of money again. It's juz to tell ya guyz... if ur door lock is not working, juz put a electrical one in! simple!! but K-mart said I can't!

PS. Golf III owners becareful of leaking water from the tail lamps, mine got leakage a bit n went to the vacuum pump underneath, can be short circuited and ur car is finished.

PS2. its only an experience of mine to share...nothing special thx

Those pumps dont run for 24hours straight . they shut down after 30 seconds . You should have just gone to the wreckers for a second hand pump . As for putting in electric door locks , where are you going to get them from ? The whole system is vacuum operated !

Only if you guys would realize...take your car to the experts.ie a Volkswagen Dealer!!!!! your pump would have been diagnosed & repaired in 1 day.for aprox. $350 for a new unit or about 100$ for a good second hand one. you can even have yours repaired by a company in melboune 2 days turn around. Silly people??? GO TO A VW WORKSHOP. Not places that sell womans clothes!
