I have a Purvis Eureka... apparently its on a 69 Chassis.
A while ago the gearbox blew up.
I've pulled it out and its sitting in the shed.
Its a swing axle beetle box... thats all I know about it.
There are a few numbers on it... Can I use these numbers to find out what type it is?
I have to put something else back in... so is it possible to have it rebuilt with stronger components? Its got to take up to about 150 horses or
so.
Help me out people!
I'm not familiar with which boxes have what numbers, but
if you want a box re-built, talk to Laurence at German Autos, Brisbane (sorry I don't have the number handy at the moment)
Post the numbers and i can ask around
The gearboxes have a very faint double letter cast into the right side of the gearbox above the long part number.
AA for a 1200 with 0.89 4th and 4.375 final drive.
AB for a 1300 with the same ratios (as fitted to a 69 1300)
AC for a 1500/early 1600 with 0.89 4th and 4.125 final drive (68-72 1500/1600s).
Does that help?
Damn!
I had a good look around.
I can't find two letters anywhere on it... apart from VW in a few spots.
On the right hand side the following is on it:
H4864487
AND
21
133.301.103
Thats all I could find.
I will take a photo of it later and post a link to it, you guys can have a look.
