measuring wheel track
sean68 - October 20th, 2005 at 08:28 PM

Does any one know how to measure the wheel track between the front wheels or the rear wheels
the measurement i've found says front wheels 1314mm
is this from the face of the brake hub where the back of the rim touches the brake or something else
also my front beam is narrowed and in pieces so i can't work off that

cheers
sean

Hi

The track is measured between the centre of the tyres, left to right where they touch the ground. It can sometimes be tricky to find the centre of the tread depending on the tyre tread type. If your getting the car engineered, the narrowed front end distance will need to be subtracted from maximum allowed track for your car. The RTA has a list of wheel track for each model and they are really inaccurate. If you have hassles find someone with a stock car the same model, fit your wheels to it and do a track measurement.
