Dont think that stuff looks any good though.
You could try powder coating them. Its cheaper than chrome.
Costs about $80 per wheel......so......

small spray cans of chrome, don't give you a consistant thickness of the paint over large area's, resulting in patchy colour, it always comes out looking tacky! if you want chrome bumpers, get them re chromed or try to find good secondhand chrome one's.
Whats wrong with the black they are now! it looks pretty good to me, and fits in with the colour of the rest of the Kombi, let it go for a while and it may grow on you!

sand kombi - March 18th, 2003 at 11:53 AM

get them sand blasted then get them painted with a polyuethane based paint .It's supposed to be more scuff and scratch resistant .thats what I'm going to do with mine[rims, rollbar bumpers]
any body know more about the scratch resistant side of it.

I have tried a few different brands of the stuff and it looks more like silver paint than chrome. It is also VERY soft and wipes off easily. Any oil getting on it seems to dissolve it and you can wipe it straight off. In my opinion it’s crap, at least in the brands I’ve tried.
If Chroming is not an option use a good automotive paint in your choice of colour.

I've never used it. Only replying to say that your kombi looks bloody good as is.

thanks.. sounds liek the paint is the cheap and crap way out... i'll just wait ... but i love the kombi so much.. my girlfriend thought there wasn't a hint of car freak in me... but i've become addicted... she hates it ....and i love this site (especially the tech bits.. i'm mechanically stupid and am sure i'll need it)...

I have used a few brands of Spray Chrome... on wheels etc... The Large cans I use is very good, but not really like chrome... it fades fast.. marks easily... chips easily -isn't all that easy to apply to large surfaces... and I agree with the others... Your Kombi Looks great the way it is.... I don't think even real chrome would improve its looks...

Nice wheels, do you know what they are from?

In my opinion painting them white like the roof would be aesthetically easy on the eyes. In two pack, so the bugs can be washed off easily.
If you take the bumpers off and sand them, a panel shop would maybe do them for $300!
