my dissy tightening collar thingy is broken help!
Anthiron - October 23rd, 2005 at 11:58 PM

the little collar that lock the distributor in place on my engine has started to bend when tighening and loosening the nut and has started to crack. i think on more timing adjustment and its history.

please tell me that this can be unbolted and another bolted on to replace and that its not a part of the case itself?

Hi

Your in luck, it bolts to case behind the dizzy with an 8mm nut. See if you can get a clamp from a Type 3 motor, the nuts out in the open which makes it easier to tighten.

Hi

No worries, try to look for one that a Neanderthal hasn’t bent and take it easy tightening this one.

got a new one and just spent an age pulling my engine cage lid off so i could get into the dissy. (some of this involved the angle grinder :P) whoever designed the top half of my cage should be shot. the bottom half is excellent.

but anyway. i couldnt work out what u meant about the type 3 one being out in the open as mine was........but i saw when i pulled the new one off an engine that comes with another baja i just bought. that the one thats broken IS a type 3 one. the new one is a type 1 type.

anyway all good again:bounce
