i ve been led to believe there isn t a reliable fuel pump rebuild kit for a 2 ltr bus and will have to go for an electric pump. has anyone had any experience with this?

i run a 2L engine in my bug with a electric pump i use a rotary pump with an inbuilt pressure regulator. mainly cause the 2 ltr pump wont fit in the bug engine bay

You can get a new 2L bus pump, but the amount you'll be spending it ends up cheaper and arguably better to get an electric pump. I'm looking at getting an Facet electric pump soon. Will tell you how it goes once I've done it.
Cheers,
Dustin

Mechanical all the way for me. Have not had trouble with either new OEM pumps (very pricey) or Brazillian rebuild kits. Have had a valves in a pump fail once.
Just remember to use a new push rod if you re-build, they do wear down considerably and also stop them pumping.

hey dustin just be careful where you mount a Facet pump because they can cause a drumming noise in pannels

I mounted my electric pump on 4mm rubber - could hear it humm when the key was turned but that was it - had no probs and there are heaps of out of the way places to mount them under a bay

Thanks for the tip Barls, I Might use rubber as well and put it in a spot less where the sound is least likely to transmit to cabin.
Cheers

Have a look at Helbus 's conversion thread - he shows an elec pump mounted just below the tank - good spot!!
