Visors on T1's
oval TOFU - November 9th, 2005 at 11:40 AM

Is there anyway to install em (mesh or solid) without riveting or self tapping the rain gutters?

Che Castro - November 10th, 2005 at 08:30 AM

The mesh one I have just has clamps with plastic/rubber shoes on the clamps so it doesn't scratch.

got any pics Jon?

VWFOOL - November 11th, 2005 at 01:39 AM

my solid and mesh ones r both held on by 2 clamps each side, who would rivet a visor to their car?

vw54 - November 11th, 2005 at 05:57 AM

yep they clamp onto the gutter rail

PrettyBlueBug - November 13th, 2005 at 12:33 PM

Just curious.... can clamps be bought seperately to use on a mesh visor that has holes in it to be screwed/riveted onto the roof gutters?

killakornkobb - November 13th, 2005 at 01:05 PM

damnit.. i riveted mine on!

oval TOFU - November 13th, 2005 at 01:11 PM

That's what I want to avoid... ;)

PrettyBlueBug - November 13th, 2005 at 01:40 PM

Don't know if there's any way to avoid it Tofu... maybe just screw it on, and then it's easy to remove and patch up. :)
I just got some technical advice on the subject by my stepdad who's a builder.

i have just used the clamps without screwing or riviting to the boby. feels solid enough for me

In yesteryear when sunvisors were all the go,they were self tapped into the gutter. If you didnt you ended up with the visor half way down your roof with very ugly scratched gutters at the end of your trip! Quite a funny sight providng it wasnt your car!!! Baz

Mine's screwed in, was the easiest job so far on my Beetle, and I think it looks sweet!
