have a set of empi 5's i want to put tyres on. i believe they are 15x5.5 wheels... what size tyre have people fitted to these wheels??

Are these on a beetle or karmann ghia?

i got 205/65s on the bug on my empi 8s

195/60r 15 front and 205/60r15 rear. these are for street use. use semi's on 6 and 7 inch for track

have had a quote for 195/70R15.

thats a huge tire. for a beetle you want about 625mm OD, for the rear to keep its gearing and the smae fro the front is you want the speedo accurate.

what im running is fairly close i think there is 4 mm difference in rolling diameter

i'm running(or was)215's and 155's on my BRM"s which are the same size

Hey Rod - it depends on what your look is going to be. You can fit anything from 135's to 205's on these. Some people will bag the 135's, but I've run them on pretty much every dub I've had for the last 20 years. It's all up to you mate on what look you're after.

You can get 165x45 tyres now if clearence is an issue. That's what I'll be running on the front. I've got 195x65 s on the rear and they're perfect

what is the standard tyre that was on the beetle?
i was quoted 150 per tyre for the 195/70.
not fussed if the speedo is accurate for the moment as i will be upgrading to vdo classic gauges during the rebuild next year.

165x80 Michelin xzx. Well for the later ones anyway I think.

195 straights is the closest to todays sizings
